THE LIGHTHOUSE – Resource Program

prep-education-program-denver

This program matches the practical needs of the community with real resources available to them and may provide appropriate professional consultation.

When participants enter the soup kitchen to enjoy companionship over a hot meal, they often need more than a food and fellowship. They may need direction in terms of acquiring practical assistance and support. And they may not be aware of where to find the resources available to them.

Every day we talk to people who are desperate, having to decide whether to pay bills, make their rent, or buy food for their children. Many are homeless, or are one paycheck away from being on the streets.  They wrestle daily with lack and may be going without needed medication,  medical, or dental help.
Our LIGHTHOUSE RESOURCE PROGRAM volunteers work to draw out the sometimes hidden needs of the participants, and then bring to their attention the resources, network connections, and guidance to meet their needs.

Maybe they have received a shut-off notice from Xcel Energy. They might not be aware of medical and dental help they can qualify for through low-income programs and facilities. They might qualify to receive minimal financial assistance or food benefits through government programs, but don't know where to go or what is required. Maybe they are looking for work unsuccessfully, or need strategies on becoming employable. Some are facing foreclosure, legal challenges, or need money management help. Others have housing or transportation issues. There are those who need government documents or identification cards. And some need to know about domestic violence help, women's shelters and day centers.

We have resource lists, trained and experienced consultants, and often, even professionals on site to help, but we need your partnership to be here for the community, and to be to be up to date and equipped to help.

If not us, then who? If not now, then when? Come join us!
We are a Community Taking a Stand….it’s time to ACT!
