Breaking the Chains
Breaking the Chains is a recovery program designed to set men free of the chains and bondages that have robbed them of their hope, future, livelihood, and their families.
Our program provides a safe place, giving them stability, so they can work on their life challenges of breaking free from their addictions. Then they are given the opportunity to move back into a fulfilling lifestyle.
We have up to 8 men in the program living on the premises. We also provide emergency overnight stay for other men at times of harsh weather conditions. We keep a waiting list for the program. Our dream is to be able to house more than eight at a time. There is such a need to assist men in our city. The men live and eat on the premises, go to provided meetings according to their personal profile of recovery, and assist with our outreach and clean up as part of the program. They’re needs are met by the generous donations of others such as yourself.
A list of their needs would include but not be conclusive are:
Bedding: full and twin sheets, comforters, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags.
Linens: bath towels, face towels, wash clothes.
Personal Bags and Backpacks: To keep their items together
Toiletries: Shampoo, Cream Rinse, hair gel, combs, brushes, hair picks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouth rinse, disposable razors, do rags, hair grease, baby oil, lotions, baby powder, foot powder, deodorant.
Transportation: Bus tokens, rides, or money for them.
Job & Life-Skills Training: Assistance with resumes, with interviewing, skill development, internet assistance and research skills, etc.
Physical Training: Memberships or access to clubs, YMCA, city athletic programs, or equipment on site.
Personal Mentors: Those who might want to mentor a man personally dedicating time to listen, coach, and mentor to reach goals, and dreams.
Our desire and goal is equipping men to become fully functioning and self sufficient so they may go out into the world and making a positive impact in their family and community.
We would love for you to join our community of donors. Would you help us to be that hand-up that is so desperately needed?
“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25
